Anderson, Indiana, Ataris was formed in 1994. Its original line-up consisted of just two people, Chris Ro and Jaysin Thomason, with a drum machine as drummer. While they were looking for a live drummer, the guys did not waste their time, but locked themselves in Chris's bedroom and recorded their demos on a four-track. Ro happened to be at a Vandals concert one day and he slipped his tapes to some roadie of the group. One of the "vandals", Joe Escalante, really liked the recordings, and with his help "Ataris" received an invitation from "Kung Fu Records" within a few weeks.
