In 1994, Matthau Mikojan and Paavo Pekkonen met in the Finnish city of Tampere, both at the tender age of about 12 years. Soon after they met, they decided to found, in their words, "a heavy metal band." The group received the gloomy name RIP, and already in 1995 the guys played their first concert in northern Finland.
Mattau and Paavo spent a lot of time and effort looking for other band members. They recorded their first demos together, on the recording equipment owned by Paavo's father. By that time the band's name had changed to Turmio. Only by 1999 did the group become full-fledged: in addition to the lead singer and guitarist, bassist Janne Kolehmainen appeared in it, who responded to an ad in a magazine. With the arrival of drummer Mato Romppanen, the trio turned into a quartet. According to legend, in 1998 in Paavo's dream John Lennon appeared with a proposal to name the new band Bloodpit. Under this name the guys played their first concert in Tampere on November 26th.
In 1999, Mato was replaced by Arnold T. Kumputie. The band began performing at small venues in and around Tampere and recorded their first EP promo in the summer. There were various opinions about this recording, but in general it was a relative success. Already in 2000, some producers expressed their interest in Bloodpit, but something went wrong and the band was never able to sign a contract.
