Armenian Soviet actor. People's Artist of the USSR (1985) .
Graduated from the acting department of the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theater Institute (1954). Since 1954 - an actor of the theater named after V. Sundukyan. In cinema since 1959.
1991 - candidate for President of Armenia
1997-2005 - Rector of the Yerevan Institute of Theater and Cinema.
Honorary Citizen of Yerevan (2000).
