November 2, 1917 - June 11, 2012 - Canadian-American actress.
Her career began on radio, and in 1935 she made her film debut. She began to appear quite a lot, appearing in more than 30 films over the next 4 years. A big hit for her was getting a small role as Carrin O'Hara in Gone With the Wind (1939) .
From 1937 to 1942, she played 12 times Polly Benedict in the Andy Hurdy films, played by Mickey Rooney. The actress continued to act actively until the 1950s, when she retired. After that, she only appeared on the big screen once in 1972. In 1997, Rutherford was supposed to be invited to play the role of Old Rose in James Cameron's Titanic, but in the end Gloria Stewart got the role. Anne Rutherford has been married twice. From her first husband, David May, in 1943 she gave birth to a daughter, Gloria. The actress passed away on June 11, 2012 in Beverly Hills after deteriorating health due to heart problems, at the age of 94. Rutherford has been honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to US cinema and television.
