Born November 30, 1972, Sydney is an Australian screenwriter, director, actor and producer.
After graduating from Sydney Grammar School, he moved to Melbourne and studied at the University of Melbourne and film school. Michaud came to the cinema as a screenwriter and actor of the short film "Noise" in 2000. From that time on, Michaud began to participate in various projects as an actor, director and screenwriter. In 2008, at the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival, David Michaud's short film Netherland Dwarf was screened to critical acclaim.
The director was a member of the Blue-Tongue Films film collective, thanks to which, in 2009, Michaud's first full-length film, Animal Kingdom, was released. This is a crime drama about the war between the underground gangs of Melbourne and the police. At the Sundance Film Festival, the film received the award for Best Drama in World Cinema.
In 2010, Michaud was involved as a screenwriter in the Spencer Sasser film Hesher, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman.
On January 29, 2013 in southern Australia, the director began filming his new film, The Rover, starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson. Filming ended on March 16, 2013.
The film was originally supposed to be released in 2013, but later the premiere was postponed until the summer of 2014.
