She was born and raised in London. She studied literature at Oxford University, after which she received a Fulbright Fellowship to study for the Advanced Directing Courses at New York University. Walker has directed short films and music videos, and has also done children's television shows. Her debut, a documentary film DEVIL'S CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND (2002), received a number of prestigious international awards. Success accompanied her next films - BLIND VISION (2006, Berlin Audience Awards), released in film distribution in several countries and DUMP (2010), which received the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Amnesty International Prize and the Audience Award for the program "Panorama" of the Berlin Film Festival.
