Born August 18, 1967, Cleveland, Ohio, USA is an American writer, screenwriter, comic book writer, producer, actor, and former artist.
Early in his career, Bendis worked for Caliber, which he left in 1996. In 1997, he landed a job at Image Comics, under whose auspices he published his work Jinx. After its release, Bendis was noticed by Todd MacFarlane, with whom he later wrote Sam and Twitch, which is part of the Spawn comic book universe. Bendis wrote 20 episodes of Sam and Twitch, and also worked on the series' spin-off Hellspawn, which brought him considerable fame.
In the late 1990s, Joe Quesada invited Bendis to Marvel Comics to work on the Marvel Knights series, which was planned separately, but later became part of the comic series about Nick Fury. Later, on Quesada's recommendation, Marvel Comics president Bill Jemas hired Bendis to write the Ultimate Spider-Man series, which debuted in 2000. The series went on to become a bestseller and beat sales of several major Marvel series, including the classic Amazing Spider-Man. Bendis and Bagley's partnership on the series has become one of the longest in American comic book history.
Between 2005 and 2009, Bendis had a hand in creating several Marvel crossovers such as The House of M, Secret War, Dark Reign, and Secret Invasion.
