Born March 16, 1961 - Canadian comic book artist and screenwriter, toy manufacturer / designer, and media entrepreneur who is best known as the creator of the iconic character Spawn.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, MacFarlane became a superstar in the comic book world thanks to his work on Spider-Man comics at Marvel Comics. In 1992, he helped found Image Comics, taking the occult anti-hero Spawn from his high school portfolio and updating it for the nineties. Spawn was one of America's most popular heroes in the nineties and pioneered the comic book trend.
Recently, McFarlane has become much less of a comic book illustrator, focusing on entrepreneurship such as McFarlane Toys and the Todd McFarlane Entertainment film studio. McFarlane co-owned the Edmonton Oilers hockey team until he sold his stake. He is also a collector of historically valuable baseballs.
