Born April 14, 1949, London, England, UK - British comic book artist, screenwriter, font writer and inker.

Gibbons began his career in the comics industry in 1973, working on the 2000 AD series for the British publishing house IPC. In 1980, he moved to the United States and got a job at DC Comics, where he initially illustrated the current Green Lantern series. Gibbons' first work at the publishing house was Green Lantern # 161 (February 1983), which he co-produced with screenwriter Todd Kane, and almost simultaneously with the plot "Creeper", which was released in Flash # 318-319.

In 1986-1896, Gibbons' work appeared on the cover of Who's Who in the DC Universe for DC Comics and The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition for Marvel Comics. In December 1986, he co-wrote Brickman # 1 for Harrier Comics, along with Kevin O'Neill. From May to August 1998, he illustrated the mini-series The Phantom with Joe Orladno and Peter David, and in May 1988 he painted issues of Action Comics # 600-601.

Gibbons is best known for his collaboration with Alan Moore on the 12-part graphic novel Keepers, which remains one of the best-selling graphic novels of all time to this day. Gibbons's artistic work in the novel differs slightly from the generally accepted style of illustration at the time. The work earned him two Jack Kirby Awards alongside Alan Moore. Much later, in 2008, Gibbons returned to work on The Guardians - this time to create a book about the filming of a full-length film based on the novel, and also took part in the creation of the film itself, in particular, in some sketches and costume designs.

After The Guardians, in the 1990s, Gibbons focused on illustrating individual issues for several publishers.

In 2001, together with Stan Lee participated in the creation of Just Imagine ... Stan Lee creating Green Lantern as part of the Marvel / DC Just Imagine ... project, in which Stan Lee "recreates" some famous DC characters. He wrote six issues of The Rann / Thanagar War series for DC, and in the late 2000s presented a new alternative cover for IDW Publishing, which republished Doctor Who comics. Gibbons also designed a new logo for Oni Press, which publishes Scott Pilgrim comics.
