Born October 13, 1947, Haifa, Palestine (Israel) - American producer.
Early in his career, he worked as the manager of Israel's first open-air cinema. Then he acquired a chain of cinemas and became a producer of several low-budget films. Lerner foresaw the rise of video distribution in 1979 and founded Israel's largest video distribution company. He also became a partner in the country's largest theater distribution company.
In 1984, Lerner executive produced the Zimbabwe remake of King Solomon's Mines and the sequel Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold. He sold his Israeli company and moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he founded Nu Metro Entertainment Group. Lerner continued to own cinemas, film production, and video distribution through large studios and independent companies. More than 60 films have been produced in Zimbabwe and South Africa and distributed throughout the world by major studios.
Lerner later sold Nu Metro and moved to MGM United Artists, continuing to produce films. A year later, he moved to Los Angeles where he founded Nu Image with Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Danny Lerner. The company has produced a number of successful films and has built a reputation as a reliable manufacturer and distributor of large and low-budget projects for the international and domestic markets.
Nu Image established Millennium Films in 1996 to meet the growing demand for quality independent and high-budget films. Nu Image continued to saturate the international home video market.
