Born March 12, 1970, Lake Forest, Illinois, USA - American writer, editor, publisher and screenwriter.

His father was a lawyer, his mother was a school teacher. The family subsequently moved to Lake Forest, Illinois. There he entered the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study journalism. However, his studies were interrupted due to the death of both parents in 1991-1992 from cancer. These events were highlighted in Eggers' first book, the 2000 memoir, The Heartbreaking Creation of a Stunning Genius. The book was a huge success, reaching number one on The New York Times bestseller list, and Eggers was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Time and several other magazines named the publication “Best Book of the Year”, and according to The Times, the book was ranked 12th on the list of the best books of the decade.

Eggers left the university and moved with his brother and his girlfriend to Berkeley, California. My brother went to private school, and Eggers found a part-time job - working as a graphic designer for a local newspaper. Together with friend David, Moody took over the local newspaper Cups, which gradually developed into the satirical magazine Might.

In 2001, his sister Beth committed suicide. In the same year Eggers published his first fiction novel, You Shall Know Our Velocity. In 2005 he published "Surviving Justice: america's Wrongfully Convicted and Exonerated" - a book-interview with a former prisoner who was sentenced to life in prison and subsequently rehabilitated.

In 2005 Eggers received an honorary doctorate in literature from Brown University. In 2008, together with Michael Goldenberg, he wrote the screenplay for the film "Where the Monsters Live", an adaptation of the book of the same name by Maurice Sendak. Also, together with his wife, he wrote the screenplay for the movie "On the Road" directed by Sam Mendes, which was released in 2009. In October 2016, he initiated the political music project “30 Days, 30 Songs” as a protest against the policies of Donald Trump.
