The actress has Franco-Austrian and Anglo-Saxon roots. Already at the age of four, she began acting for advertising for more than 20 companies, including Coca-Cola, Mattel, as well as in several television series, including "Dark Angel", "Soul Collector", "Supernatural". At the same age, Jodelle starred in her first feature-length television movie, The Little Mermaid, for which she received an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Performance in a Children's Film category, becoming the youngest nominee in the history of the award.
Jodelle has a sister and a brother: Marisha (born 1987, actress, make-up artist) and Jeremy (born 1985, musician).
From the very beginning, Jodelle's acting career took a very bizarre path: the directors chose her exclusively in horror or thrillers as dead girls, ghosts or demons. In 2004, she took part in the filming of the 13-episode mystical drama The Royal Hospital, an American television adaptation of the famous Kingdom of Lars von Trier, where she played the ghost of a murdered girl who, by her arrival, marks the appearance of death in the hospital. In the same year, director Terry Gilliam drew attention to Ferland, who invited her to play the main role of the girl Jeliza-Rose in his adaptation of Mitch Cullin's short story "Tideland". At a press conference to kick off Tideland, Gilliam introduced Jodelle with the following words: "I met Jodelle, an extraordinary girl, and then I discovered that she made more films than I did." Tideland has indeed become Ferland's 26th project. Jodelle Ferland independently came up with four different accents for the doll heads, which her character Jeliza-Rose plays in the movie "Tideland". Ferland's performance in this phantasmagoric mix of Alice in Wonderland and Psycho by Hitchcock has received top critical praise.
In addition, Jodelle can be seen in the spring 2006 horror film adaptation of the famous Japanese video game Silent Hill, where the actress plays three roles at once. At the audition for Silent Hill, the actress told director Christoph Hans that she would like to play the devil.
