Born February 18, 1966, Beverly, Massachusetts - American actor, film and television director, screenwriter and producer.

Studied at the renowned Hollis Brookline School in Hollis, New Hampshire.

After Alfred Hitchcock's 1946 film Infamy inspired him to direct, Ferland went on to study filmmaking at the University of Southern California Film and Television School, graduating in 1988 and getting an internship as a researcher at the Creators Agency. He got a job as an assistant director to Joel Schumacher three days after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree, and for five years until 1994, he worked with Schumacher on Relatives, Flatulent, If Looks Could Kill , "Die young", "I've had enough!" and "The Client", in the latter of which he was an Associate Producer. He then wrote and directed his first film, Nanny, in 1995 and in 1997, directed What It Is Like Lying in America. which was highly acclaimed for outstanding achievement in the field of motion picture art by the US National Council of Film Critics. Then he began working in television. He also directed the TV films After the Storm and Bang Bang You're Dead in 2001 and 2002, respectively. After the Storm was named Best Film at the 2000 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, and Ferland was individually praised for the realism he brought to underwater film, while he received an Emmy Day. Best Directing in a Children's Program; and a US Directors Guild Award for Best Directing in a Children's Program for "Bang Bang You're Dead" in 2003.

After filming the 2004 sequel to the 1987 film Dirty Dancing, Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights, Ferland went to work mainly on television and directed episodes of the series Ed, Medical Investigation, Dr. House ”,“ Blind Justice ”,“ Body Parts ”,“ Anti-Terror Squad ”,“ Escape ”,“ Know the Enemy ”,“ Detective Raines ”,“ Lost ”,“ Skirmish ”,“ Save Grace ”,“ The Rich ”, Last Minute, Blacklist and most notable TV series The Shield, for which he directed thirteen episodes.

He is a regular director of the FX series Sons of Anarchy. Ferland has filmed episodes of all seven seasons of the show to date.

He also directed six episodes of the zombie television series The Walking Dead.

Ferland directed several episodes of the CBS series Elementary.

He also directed one of the episodes of the first season of the FX series The Strain, created by Guillermo del Toro.
