Has worked with many world film directors such as Nagisa Oshima, David Cronenberg, Terry Gilliam, Wim Wenders and others.
Has contributed to several films by Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, including the historical drama The Last Emperor (1987), which won an Oscar in the Best Picture category. In 2006 he received the European Film Academy Award for Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema.
