Born September 15, 1945 - Spanish Film Actress.
She started her career as a singer. His film career began in 1970 with the release of The Man in Hiding. This was followed by a major role in the movie "Paper Tigers" in 1977.
Although Maura has played mostly dramatic roles, she has also been featured in several comedic roles such as Sal gorda (1984), Se infiel y no mires con quien (1985) and Tata mia (1986) .
In 1980, Maura first appeared in Pedro Almodovar's Pepi, Lucy, Bohm and the rest of the girls .
They continued their collaboration in the 1980s with Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988), for which Maura won the Felix Award for Best Actress in November 1988. After this film, Maura and Aldomovar did not work together for more than 10 years, and only resumed their joint activities in 2006 on the set of Return. Two main female works (Carmen Maura and Penelope Cruz) won the 2006 Cannes Film Festival prize.
Maura is considered a gay icon after playing the role of a transgender in Almodovar's The Law of Desire.
