Milli Vanilli is a German pop music project by the notorious producer Frank Farian. The group existed from 1988 to 1998. Its public participants were Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan. The history of the project began with an agreement between Frank Farian and several talented vocalists on mutual cooperation. But it was soon decided that the external data of the performers did not meet the needs of the target audience. For this reason, for the filming of his debut video, Farian attracted young dancers with a model appearance as visual actors - Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan.
The invited guys signed a contract with FAR Music, which was then managed by Milli Vanilli. Prior to this, Pilatus had already collaborated with Farian. It was he, as a trusted partner, who recommended the company as a partner to his friend, Morvan. From that moment on, the actors became officials of the Milli Vanilli music project.
To popularize the group, Farian organized an eventful tour of the best European clubs. Interest in the team immediately grew. After the success of the debut single and the video shot for it in 1988, the band's first LP, All or Nothing, was released.
The fame of Milli Vanilli caught the attention of Clive Davis, head of the American label Arista Records. He offered the team a promotion in the US market. As a result, the debut album was re-released with some changes specifically for the new audience. Several tracks on the disc were replaced with new ones, and the whole disc was renamed Girl You Know It's True. The updated version was released in the USA in 1989. The album was a huge success and was certified platinum ten times.
The next LP, 2 ? 2, which came out the same year, cemented Milli Vanilli's success. This album also went platinum more than once. His tracks have been topping the most prestigious world charts for a long time. In 1990, the band won a Grammy award.
