Today the Swedish band In Flames is one of the brightest performers of melodic death metal. As of 2015, the group has 11 full-length albums, three EPs and one live DVD. Videos of In Flames can be watched online on our website.
The group was formed in Gothenburg in 1990. It was founded by Jesper Stromblad, Johann Larsson and Glenn Jungstrom, former members of another musical project, Ceremonial Oath. Subsequently, the composition changed many times.
Having recorded a demo, the musicians sent samples to record labels. As a result, their group got a contract with Wrong Again Records, and soon saw the light of the debut album In Flames - Lunar Strain. The album was well received by the Swedish press.
In 1995, the band's efforts resulted in the EP Subterranean. The release attracted the attention of Nuclear Blast, a respected label in the heavy music environment. As a result, in the same year, the musicians got a new promising contract. Soon, In Flames, together with the Kreator collective, went on their first international tour.
In 1997, the band released the album Whoracle. As part of the tour in support of him, In Flames performed with famous Dimmu Borgir throughout Europe and gave concerts in Asia for the first time. The period from 1999 to 2001 was very fruitful for the band. During this time, In Flames released three full-length albums: Colony, Clayman and The Tokyo Showdown live. By the time the latter was released, the team had already toured the whole world.
2002 became an important page in the history of In Flames. Then the group completed work on the disc Reroute To Remain, which was created under the influence of the American heavy scene. In 2004, the band developed the ideas behind Reroute To Remain on a new album called Soundtrack To Your Escape. The musicians made it clear that they had chosen a new course of development. After losing fans who didn't like it, In Flames gained new fans.
In subsequent years, the team delighted its audience with releases such as Come Clarity, A Sense of Purpose, Siren Charms, etc. Throughout their entire career, the musicians have repeatedly resorted to self-production, and also collaborated with the labels Ferret, Good Fight, Koch, Century Media, SME, Epic and others.
