Born October 26, 1963, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is a Canadian actor, director, producer and screenwriter.
He is of Irish descent and raised in a large Roman Catholic family. He has an older brother, a prosecutor, and three sisters.
As a young man, his family moved to Lennoxville, Quebec, where he went to high school. He attended the Seminaire de Sherbrooke, where he studied in French and played basketball for the Barona team. He later studied at Champlain College in Lennoxville.
While studying at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Kavanagh became interested in theater and music, played hockey and basketball. He graduated from university with degrees in English and Biology.
