Born April 3, 1977, New York, USA - American film director, screenwriter, actor and producer.

He was a student at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts and a student at Columbia University, where he earned a degree in cinematography in 2001.

Benson got his start in film in the early 2000s, first as an actor and producer. He has appeared in the short films Urban Chaos Theory (2000), Billy528 (2001) and The Killing of Candice Klein (2002). In 2003, he directed his first short film, Four Lean Hounds, where he also co-wrote, produced and co-wrote. A year later, Ned could be seen in the frames of the full-length film "Fictional Heroes" directed by Dan Harris.

Benson began his twenties of the 2000s with two short films he directed and wrote - the ten-minute drama Yes and the thirteen-minute Westerner were released in 2010.

Benson then took up the full-length project, which was completed in 2013. Dilogy "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" tells about the relationship of a married couple during the crisis in their family life. The first film (“The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: He”) explores the situation from the perspective of a man, and the second (“The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: She”) looks at the story from the perspective of a woman. The film stars James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain, whom Ned had met while working on his first short films. Thanks to Chastain, who actively participated in the creation of the film (also acted as a producer), Benson turned the picture into a dilogy, creating a separate film, but from the point of view of the heroine. The drama premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. A year later, the third part of Benson's film The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them was presented at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Unassigned Regard program.
