An alternative German group, Maya, was formed in Berlin in 1997. Mitze Katz (soloist) and Andy Penn (guitarist) met at the gymnasium and could not think that they would create a rock band. In the fall, they met Bob Schultz (bass player), Ingo Pulse (trumpet player, guitarist) and Gunnar Spice (drummer). From that moment on, the history of the Me in Affairs group (Maya) began, performing their own lyric texts to an arrangement in the style of mixed rock, indie, pop. A certain highlight was the fact that one composition contained both English and German.
The first single Sugar My Skin was released in 1999, but the band members could not find a common language with the recording studio Sony BMG and canceled their debut contract. A small success in Germany awaited the musicians in 2001 with the release of the composition Factory City under the RO T label, and in 2002 the long-awaited collection Hieb & Stichfest was finally released. The group members attributed it to an electro-punk, but fans disagreed. The next disc Stille Post, which appeared in 2004, became softer, more lyrical and earned the first gold. One song Hungriges Herz from the album climbed to number 24 on the German chart and claimed participation in Eurovision. In support of the album, the band visited some cities in Russia, where they found new fans.
In the middle of summer 2006 came the finest hour for the team members. The work of Zirkus reached the second step of the charts and became the most successful creation of the guys. The album completely moved away from punk rock, became more melodic, it used numerous instruments that Ingo played. The most recognizable composition was Tanz der Molekule. After the release of the collection, Maya's photo groups began to appear in popular music magazines. In 2007, the team took part in a German competition and took fourth place. These competitions are held among 16 cities in Germany, and viewers vote for applicants live.
2008 brought a new creation of the collective. It was Willkommen im Club, but this album did not succeed the previous one.
How many years Maya has not been heard on the world stage, but the team has not announced its breakup. Apparently, the participant is hoarding material in order to explode the charts again and get to the top steps of the charts.
