Born November 21, 1928 in Moscow. In 1951 he graduated from the acting department of GITIS (workshop of I. Raevsky). He worked as an actor at the Central Transport Theater, at the Theater. Mayakovsky. In 1960 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of S. Gerasimov, T. Makarova). Since 1960 he has been working at the Lenfilm film studio. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1987).
