Hungarian film and theater director.
One of the leading figures in the national cinema. People's Artist of the Hungarian People's Republic (1965) .
Born April 27, 1905 in Budapest.
Graduated from the Conservatory in Budapest. In 1924 he made his debut as a director at the opera house. He worked as an assistant director in cinema. The first independent production was the film "The Bride from Torotsk" (1937).
Most of Keleti's films are light comedies, but he also directed several films in the genre of political drama (Yesterday (1959) and Dawn (1960) about the defeat of the counter-revolutionary insurgency (1956) in Hungary) .
Since 1950 he taught at the Institute of Theater and Cinema (Budapest).
He died on June 20, 1973 in Budapest.
