After graduating from high school in 1950 he entered the Moscow Art Theater School (course of S. K. Blinnikov and G. A. Gerasimov). O. Anofriev's graduation work was the role of Tony Lumnix in the play "The Night of Errors" based on the play by O. Goldsmith.
In 1954, having successfully graduated from a studio school, he was assigned as an actor to the Central Children's Theater.
In 1960-1962 he was an actor at the V. Mayakovsky Theater.
In 1962-1972 he was an actor at the Mossovet Theater.
In 1972-1995 he was an actor in the Theater-Studio of Film Actor, for some time he worked as the chief director of this theater.
Since the 1990s, O. Anofriev has rarely appeared in films.
In 1992, he made his debut as a filmmaker, directing the film "Being in Love" with Galina Polskikh, Svetlana Nemolyaeva and Alexander Lazarev in the lead roles. In this picture, O. Anofriev acted simultaneously as a composer.
In the mid-1990s, he was the host of the TV show "Fairy Snack" on the RTR channel.
In 1999 he hosted the "Home Library" program on ORT.
