Simon Beaufoy studied documentary filmmaking at the Bournemouth Film School, but accidentally became a screenwriter after spending a ton of BBC money on a documentary that was never made. He has written scripts for such films as Male Striptease, AMONG GIANTS, THE DARKEST LIGHT, This is not a love song, and was also one of the screenwriters for MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY. His most recent adapted script is currently being filmed for SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN.
He also wrote BURN UP, a two-part thriller for the BBC on climate change politics and YASMIN for Channel 4. He previously worked with Danny Boyle and Christian Colson on the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. He is currently working on a pilot episode of EMERGENCY SEX for HBO and executive producer Russell Crowe.
