Patricia Scanlon spent most of her youth at her grandmother's horse ranch in Holliston. After school she entered the University of Massachusetts Amherst and studied acting with Bill Pullman.
Moving to New York City, the actress received critical acclaim for her show Another Cup of Coffee, which she performed at many venues, including the New York House of Contemporary Theater and Arts, the Community Theater, Lincoln Center and the Lucille Festival in Jamestown. Many of her subsequent plays and theater roles have also received critical acclaim and awards.
