November 14, 1904 - January 2, 1963 - American actor, producer, film director and singer. His popularity peaked in the 1930s, when he was one of the brightest and most sought-after stars of American film musicals. In the 1940s, his range of roles expanded and genres such as noir (Murder, My Darling (1944), Trap (1948)), thriller (Cornered (1945), High Purpose "(1951)) and comedy (" The Reformer and the Red Head "(1950)). Since the early 1950s, Powell has shown himself as a director, filming several films, including "A split second" (1953), "The Conqueror" (1956) and "The Enemy Below" (1957), which was awarded the "Oscar" for the best special effects. Dick Powell died of lymphoma in January 1963 at the age of 58. His body was cremated and his ashes were buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery Columbarium in Glendale, California. The actor has received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to film and television.
