February 8, 1910 - April 22, 1992 - popular in the 1930s. actress and dancer of Hungarian descent in the USA and Great Britain.
She was born in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. She attracted attention at the age of thirteen, performing as a dancer in a ballet corpse. Her theatrical debut took place at the Children's Theater in Budapest, where she played in a fairy tale.
In 1932, Steffi appeared in Hollywood, but at the same time she could hardly speak English. The directors advised her not to communicate with her Hungarian friends and following their advice, Steffi mastered spoken English in a fairly short time. But despite this, in the movie she got the role of foreign women, mostly charming and luxurious European ladies. She starred in such films as "The Dancing Pirate" (1936), "Anthony Edvers" (1936), "Waterloo Bridge" (1940) and others.
Steffi was married twice. Her first husband was actor John Carroll, father of her daughter Julienne Lafaye, with whom she was married from 1935 to 1938. The second time she married actor Dennis O'Keefe, with whom she was until his death in 1968
In 1940, she left filming. Steffi died on April 22, 1992 in Beverly Hills at the age of 82.
