Born May 20, 1948, London, England, United Kingdom - British film director, theater director and film producer.

Graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in English literature. After university he worked as a director for the Royal Shakespeare troupe and editor of the BBC.

Emiel's directorial debut was the documentary Silent Twins (1985).
