Graduated from Cambridge in 1970. In England he worked in the theater, then in the mid-1970s he left for the USA. Upon returning to his homeland, already in the 80s, he began working on television. He made his debut as a filmmaker in the early 90s.
Recognition came to Madden in the second half of the 1990s.
