William Nicholson was raised in a Catholic family in Gloucestershire. By the age of ten, he was already determined to become a writer. He was educated at Downside School (Somerset) and College in Cambridge. During the first half of his career, Nicholson worked for the BBC as a documentary filmmaker (mid-1970s to mid-1980s). He became known as a writer and playwright when the first book of his famous trilogy "Fiery Wind" was published, which received a number of prestigious literary prizes. Nicholson is a screenwriter for many Hollywood blockbusters. Winner of numerous literary and film awards.
