Born July 8, 1960, Queens, New York is an American actress, dancer and jazz singer.
Pettiford is best known for her roles in Broadway musicals. In 1999, she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her performance in Foss.
On television, Pettiford is best known for her role on the sitcom Half and Half, where she starred from 2002 to 2006. She was also part of the cast of the daytime soap operas How the World Spins and One Life to Live. On the big screen, she is best known for her role as Mariah Carey's mother in the 2001 film Glitter. In addition, she played about fifty other roles on the screen, but first of all she performed on the theater stage.
