Born August 6, 1957 - American actress and singer.
She began her career on the New York theater scene in the eighties. Her Broadway debut was in the 1989 musical Jerome Robbins' Broadway, which earned Prince her first-ever Tony Award nomination .
Prince has achieved her greatest success with her leading roles in a number of Broadway musicals. Her greatest success was in the 1992 musical Boys and Dolls, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and Drama Desk for Best Actress in a Musical. Following her stage success, CBS recruited the actress to play the lead role in its short-lived sitcom High Society. She soon returned to the stage and in the 2000s received several more "Tony" nominations for her roles.
Prince has starred in three dozen television shows and films throughout her career. She is best known on television for her supporting roles as Claudia Lisster on the sitcom Spin City, and as the protagonist's mother in the series Beautiful to Death. She also starred in the TV series Dr. Huff in 2004-2006. On the big screen, Prince has appeared in Dragon Strike (1985), Dave (1993), My Father Is a Hero (1994), Portrait of Perfection (1997) and Real Girls (2006).
