March 25, 1921 - January 2, 1995 - American actress, Oscar nominee in 1956.
She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts. She began acting in films as a child, for which the American press dubbed her "America's most commercially successful child actor." From 1933 to 1934 she also worked on radio, where she voiced Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz .
Her adult roles have also been quite successful. She won two Sarah Siddons awards for her work at the Chicago theater, and a Tony for her performance in Bad Progeny, the film version of which earned her an Oscar nomination in 1956. The actress also starred in television series, including "The Hour of Alfred Hitchcock" in one of the episodes of which she had the lead role. For her contributions to the film industry, Nancy Kelly has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actress was the older sister of American actor Jack Kelly, and they had a lot of similarities in appearance. Nancy Kelly's career has been more successful than that of her brother, who starred primarily on television. Kelly was married three times. Her first husband was the actor Edmond O'Brien (1941-1942), the second was Fred Jackman Jr. (1946-1950), and the third Warren Caro (1955-1968), from whom she gave birth to a daughter.
Nancy Kelly died in 1995 from complications of diabetes. She is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Westwood Village, Los Angeles.
