Born March 6, 1968 - American actress and television director.
After graduating from college, she appeared in several local theatrical productions before making her screen debut in the 1991 film To Damn It .
Kelly has appeared in forty films and television shows during her career. She rose to fame after playing the female lead in the 1992 film Chaplin, after which she voiced one of the characters in the commercially successful animated film The Lion King (1994). She also starred in the films "With Honors", "Little Odessa", "Tearing the Stars" and "The Honest Courtesan" .
On television, Kelly starred in the short-lived TV series Own and Possessed in 1998. The following year, she landed a central role in The West Wing and won a Screen Actors Guild Award alongside other cast members on the show. Kelly's character was not developed and she left the series after one season. Kelly later had a more stable job in television, playing the role of the single mother of Chad's character Michael Murray in One Tree Hill, where she starred from 2003 to 2009.
