Born July 17, 1960, London, England, UK - British American producer, screenwriter, actor and director.

Grew up in Dagenham, Essex. His father was Catholic and his mother was Presbyterian, it is not known in what denomination Mark was raised. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the British Army and became a squad leader in an airborne regiment. Between 1978 and 1982, Burnett served in the 3rd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment, in which he took part in the Falklands War.

After retiring from military service, Burnett emigrated to the United States in October 1982, where his friend Nick Hill, who worked as a nanny and a chauffeur, had moved a few years earlier. With the help of a friend, Mark, despite his lack of experience, got a job as a nanny and, at the same time, as a child's bodyguard for the Yeagers, who lived in the famous Los Angeles area of ??Beverly Hills. A year later, Burnett went to work with another family in Malibu, where he took care of two boys for $ 250 a week. Later, the father of the children took Mark to work at his insurance office. Two years later, Burnett began selling T-shirts at Vinay's Beach Venice in Los Angeles, initially only on weekends. He later quit his job in insurance as the T-shirt trade was making more money. In 1991, Burnett and four of his friends joined the Raid Gauloises, a French adventure race. After that, Mark came to the conclusion that it is promising from a business point of view in holding such competitions. He acquired the rights to the format and hosted a similar Eco-Challenge in America. It was with Eco-Challenge that Burnett began his career as a television producer.

Burnett's most famous work was the popular reality show Survivor, which premiered in the summer of 2000. It became the most popular summer event in the history of American television of the year alongside the series "Sonny and Cher". In 2009, Entertainment Weekly ranked Survivor the # 1 reality show of all time.

Burnett has produced over 2,900 hours of television programming that is regularly broadcast in over 70 countries around the world.

In December 2015, Burnett was named president of MGM Television and Digital Group, signing a five-year contract. His appointment coincided with the closure of MGM's acquisition of the remaining 45% stake in United Artists Media Group (UAMG), which will be acquired by MGM Television Group.

In 2004, Time magazine named Burnett one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In the same year, Burnett was named Philanthropist of the Year by the Reality Cares Foundation.

Burnett was a member of the Board of Directors of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) for two years. In November 2007, Burnett was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the industry weekly Broadcast & Cable. On July 8, 2009, Burnett received a star at 6664 Hollywood Boulevard. In June 2011, Burnett was elected to the Board of Delegates for the Producers Guild of America and is currently a member of the Producers Board. He is also an ambassador for Operation Smile, a non-profit medical organization.
