At an early age, Lana Parrilla had already decided that she wanted to become an actress and after graduating from high school moved to Los Angeles to study acting and soon began performing in local theater productions.
Lana Parrilla starred in several movies early in her career, then joined the cast of the comedy series "Spin City" on ABC in 2000. After the series ended in 2001, she landed a co-star in the pilot of Steven Spielberg's Semper Fi, but the series was not approved for further production.
In 2002, Parrilla began co-starring in the NBC drama series Boomtown, which closed after two seasons in 2003. During that period, she performed cameo roles in many TV series, among which were "Military Legal Service", "The Shield", "NYPD" and "The Client Is Always Dead" .
In 2005, Parrilla starred in the fourth season of 24, in which she played the role of anti-terrorism agent Sarah Gavin. The series received good reviews from critics, became known for its original concept and feminist bias. The series gained worldwide success, thanks to her role in it, Parrilla achieved great fame. Parrilla received a lot of praise from critics, some of whom commented that the actress deserved an Emmy nomination for her performance.
