Born April 12, 1970 - American actress and stand-up comedian. She is best known for her role as Donna Meagle in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation (2009-2015). Retta appeared periodically on the show for the first two seasons before joining the main cast in the third.
Retta was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Retta's parents are from Liberia, and the current president of the country, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is her aunt. In the late 1990s, she began performing as a stand-up comedian, and then continued her career, appearing in episodes of sitcoms and variety shows. After completing Parks and Recreation, she joined the second season of Bravo's Girlfriends Guide to Divorce.
