Born April 29, 1954, Brooklyn, New York is an American actor, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, producer and director.
After leaving school, he studied at the State University of New York at Oswego, and then at the City University of New York. His first stage performance took place in 1976 at the Catch a Rising Star comedy club in New York. In 1979, Seinfeld played the small role of Frankie the postman in the American sitcom Benson. A significant success was his appearance in May 1981 on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, after which he regularly appeared on both Carson's show and other shows such as The Later Show with David Letterman "(Late Show with David Letterman)," The Merv Griffin Show "and others.
In 1989, NBC began broadcasting the sitcom Seinfeld, co-written by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. The series, in which Jerry played the role of himself, aired until 1998 and became one of the most successful sitcoms in the United States. In 1993, Seinfeld was awarded the Golden Globe for this work.
He produced the 2007 animated film Bee Movie: The Honey Conspiracy and voiced Barry Bee Benson in it. In the early 1990s, Seinfeld also promoted Apple Computer products, and in 2008 he starred in a series of Microsoft commercials.
He helped the David Lynch Foundation to apply this technique to the treatment of PTSD and he appeared at a 2009 benefit for TM.
