Born September 3, 1969, New York is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and actor.
Baumbach made his cinematic debut at the age of 24, writing the screenplay and then directing the growing up film Forget and Remember, which immediately became popular with film critics.
The young filmmaker's main success came in 2005, when his semi-autobiographical comedy drama The Squid and the Whale was released on American screens: it was only his third film experience, but Baumbach had already received a prestigious Oscar nomination for the original screenplay. In 2007, the director released a new comedy drama called Margot at the Wedding.
