Born August 28, 1947 - American actress.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she began performing on the stage, and in 1979 made her Broadway debut in the play "Chapter Two", and then starred in the film adaptation of the same name with Marsha Mason and Valerie Harper.
Mooney has appeared in over eighty television shows and films throughout her career. She is best known for her role as Edna Harper, mother of the protagonist, on the television series Widower's Love, where she starred from 2002 to 2006, throughout the broadcast period. She also starred in several short-lived sitcoms and has been featured in series such as Roseanne, Ambulance and Practice. On the big screen, she has appeared in films such as Tootsie, Dead Poets Society and The Phantom Menace. In 2012, Shonda Rhimes invited Mooney for the second season of her TV series Scandal.
