Born January 28, 1959, Montbeliard, France - American film director, screenwriter and producer of Hungarian descent.

Brought to America as a child, he settled with his family in Los Angeles and attended Hollywood High School.

Frank Darabont's first film job was as an assistant producer on the low-budget horror film Hell Night in 1981. For the next six years, he worked in Hollywood as a decorator and assistant art director.

In 1981, on the set of the film "Hell Night", Frank Darabont met with Chuck Russell, and this meeting began their long-term fruitful cooperation.

They created the scripts for the third movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and a remake of the classic 1950s horror film The Blob. In addition, Frank Darabont also participated in the creation of the fantastic film "Fly 2".

The director triumphantly debuted in big cinema in 1994 with the prison drama The Shawshank Redemption, which was warmly received by both audiences and critics and won seven Oscar nominations, including Best Film.

However, even earlier, Frank Darabont managed to successfully work on television - his directorial debut was the television thriller Buried Alive (1990) with Tim Matheson and Jennifer Jason Lee, and before that, in 1983, he directed a short film based on the story of Stephen King's "The Woman in the Room".

Darabont also contributed to the television series Run of the Black Cat and wrote episodes for the popular TV series Young Indiana Jones and Tales from the Crypt.

In 1999, a new film by Frank Darabont was released - the drama "The Green Mile" based on the novel by Stephen King. Tom Hanks, David Morse, Michael Clarke Duncan played the main roles in it.

Later Darabont directed two more films - the melodrama "Majestic" (2001) and the next screen version of Stephen King's novel "Mist" (2007). On October 31, 2010 Darabont's television project was launched - the television series The Walking Dead.
