The mega-popular hardcore rap group Supreme NTM is widely regarded as the founder of French hip-hop music. It was they who stood at the origins of the genesis of such a style of music as rap in France; it was thanks to their work that the established stereotype that only American performers can rap was destroyed. The NTM collective was founded in 1989 in one of the ill-fated and criminogenic quarters of Paris - Saint-Saint-Denis.
The creators are three childhood friends - Bruno Lopez performing under the stage name Kool Shen, Morville Didier under the pseudonym Joey Starr and DJ DJ'S. They began their career first with break dance, and only six years later they recorded their first song. Initially, the group did not engage in studio work, all the recordings were demo versions, but the lyrics were filled with a rebellious mood and aggressive criticism of modern society. The name of the group originated from a slang swear word - Nique Ta Mere. Many recording studios tried to smooth out the band's aggressive image by adding the prefix Supreme to the name, but the change in name did not affect the band's harsh lyrics.
Real popularity came to the team after signing a contract with Epic. In the recording studio, a debut single was created, consisting of several parts, called Le monde de demain, which translates as Tomorrow's World. In March 1991, the band's debut album, Authentik, was presented and a six-month tour of France in support of Sidi took place. In terms of video work, the first Supreme NTM movie was filmed by Sony Music Entertainment in 1991 to cement Authentik's status as a studio album. The collective is becoming in demand, it is often invited to tours and concerts, and the number of admirers has grown exponentially. The discography of the artists includes eight studio albums and a huge number of demo songs. The latest work was presented to the public in 2009 under the title Live Bercy.
The creative path of the team was not easy, their work was tried to boycott, law enforcement agencies tried to sue them, the participants were imprisoned and fined, but, nevertheless, Supreme NTM's contribution to the formation of hip-hop culture in France is enormous, and this fact is undeniable. The most popular films with Supreme NTM were Pose Ton Gun, Ma B * nz, That's my people, Police and others.
