Born November 30, 1962 in Sarasota, Florida. He attended the Film School of the University of Central Florida.
In 1997, Mirik directed several episodes of the series Split Screen, and in 1999, he directed and wrote the acclaimed film The Blair Witch: Coursework from the Other World, filmed in a pseudo-documentary genre. The tape was a huge success, with a total box office gross of $ 248 million. The Blair Witch: A Coursework From the Beyond won the Independent Spirit Film Award for Best Debut Film with a Budget of $ 500,000 or less, won the Cannes Film Festival Youth Award, and was also nominated for other international film awards.
