People's Artist of the Russian Federation (2002). In 1941 he graduated from school at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, in 1951 - the art department of VGIK. In 1948-2001 he worked at the Soyuzmultfilm studio, first as an assistant to an artist, from 1951 as a production designer (until 1963 in co-authorship with AV Vinokurov), and from 1975 as a director. He worked in both hand-drawn and puppet animation, mainly with the directors L.K. Atamanov, R.A. Kachanov, I.V. Ufimtsev, I.S. Aksenchuk. He was a member of the artistic council of Soyuzmultfilm. In 1996-99 - Member of the Board of the Soyuzmultfilm Film Studio, in 1998 - Founder of the Soyuzmultfilm Association, a member of its Board. In 2000-01 he worked at the Soyuzmultfilm Film Studio. Participant of many exhibitions, incl. - personal, illustrates children's books. Winner of the American award "Hollywood for Children" and the prize "For contribution to the profession" at the XI ORFAK in Suzdal (2006). Member of the Academy of Cinematic Arts "Nika". Member of ASIFA. He starred in the documentary series "World of Animation or Animation of the World" (2001), "Soyuzmultfilm - Fairy Tales and Were" (series "Old Walls", 2003; "Artist - Profession and Fate", 2003), "Dolls in the World of People" (series “Script for Pinocchio”, 2005), “Factory of Miracles” (series “Production Designer”, 2006), “Weightless Life” (2006).
