Alkaline Trio is a rock and alternative punk band formed in 1996 in Chicago. Then it included Rob Doran (backing vocalist, bassist), Glenn Porter (percussionist, drummer), Matt Skiba (vocalist, guitarist). All their work is imbued with drama, lyrics, feelings, depression, mixed with alcohol, death and sometimes drug fantasies. The first mini-album, Sundials, was released in 1997 and went unnoticed by future fans. Soon Rob left the band, and Dan Andriano was invited to take his place. With a renewed line-up, the band released their second mini-disc For Your Lungs Only in 1998 and immediately became recognizable among fans in the American West. Inspired by the success of the informal guys, they decided on the long-awaited full-length album Goddamnit at the end of 1998. Oddly enough, but after a successful release this collection did not get the fame it deserved. This was followed by two more albums, and in 2001 a new drummer, Derek Grant, appeared in the group. In 2003, the CD Good Mourning appeared, dividing the work of Alkaline Trio into "before" and "after".
In May 2005, the members of the trio created a diametrically opposite material to what they had done before - the fifth disc Crimson, which fans did not accept immediately due to new rhythms, but later they heard in it the individuality and complex structure of compositions, for which they even had to be temporarily invited to trio of the fourth member. The music is again saturated with devilry, but in a new direction. This is no question because Matt and Derek of the Alkaline Trio have been involved with the Church of Satan for several years. July 2008 was fruitful for works in a new style. These were calmer compositions with lyrical lyrics collected in the Agony & Irony album. In its first week, it peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Album Chart. And the next album, The Addiction, broke the band's personal records and reached 11th place on the Billboard Top 200.
In 2011 the band embarked on a 15th US tour in support of their next Damnesia album. The last work My Shame Is True came out in 2013 and the guys are very proud of it. How many years has Alkaline Trio been traveling around the country, and their energy is still enough for several projects. Today the group includes Matt Skiba, Derek Grant and Dan Andriano.
