Was born on March 28, 1925 in Leningrad. Graduated from the Leningrad Choreographic School named after A.Ya. Vaganova and the acting department of the Moscow State Institute of Theatrical Art named after A.V. Lunacharsky. From 1943 to 1963 - soloist of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after S.M. Kirov. He worked as the chief choreographer of the Academic Maly Opera and Ballet Theater, the S.M. Kirov, Cairo Ballet, Leningrad Music Hall. The director of the ballets "Coast of Hope", "Leningrad Symphony", "Icarus", "Gadfly", "The Little Humpbacked Horse" and others. Since 1992 - artistic director of the Academy of Russian Ballet. For many years he taught at the ballet master department of the Leningrad State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov.
