Group from Portland, USA. Formed in 1991, disbanded in 1997. The group was organized in 91 by two friends, Charlie and Chris, natives of Alaska. In '89, they moved to Portland to attend college while playing in a number of local bands. In 1991, Dave joined them and the name "Pond" appeared. The band immediately took the lead in the Portland scene alongside Sprinkler, Heatmiser and Hazel. The first single, "Young Splendor", was released later that year on Timm / Kerr Records, after which the group (along with their friends "Hazel") was noticed by the label "Sub Pop", concerned about replenishing the "stable" after a massive sale of all their stars like "Nirvana" or "Tad".
