Young Boris's vocation manifested itself at the age of three. According to his mother's recollections, already at a tender age, the little boy jumped up in the crib, listening to A. Pushkin's poems from his mother. And already at four, together with his brother, he performed at the Christmas tree holidays in various towns, since his father worked as a railway worker. In childhood, the interests of the future People's Artist of the "great and mighty" were formed. But the revolution broke out, and our hero was only thirteen years old.
But the guy from Saratov did not get lost in the intricacies of turbulent times and from the age of fifteen he had already served on the Eastern Front. The Chapayev division was also part of this army. Whether this fact played out when the artist B. Babochkin was approved for the main role in the main film of his life - it's hard to say. Nevertheless, he remembered the experience of military operations and the images of his commanders and soldiers forever.
After the end of the civil war, young Boris still chooses art, although, according to his own recollections, he could well go into politics. In his native Saratov, together with his brother Vitaly, he enters a drama studio. After finishing it, on the recommendation of the head of the studio A. Kanin, Babochkin sets off to conquer Moscow to V. Nemirovich-Danchenko himself. The letter was not useful, since Boris Babochkin himself entered the studio of I. Pevtsov and showed it to the addressee already in 1940, being already a famous artist. This was the character of our hero. But from one blow of fate he could not recover all his life - his brother Vitaly, a young actor who showed great promise, died of typhus.
Now, playing for two, B. Babochkin leaves Moscow. The geography of the theaters in which this artist worked covers almost the entire USSR. The Return of Nathan Becker, First Platoon - these two films brought the actor popularity. But his third sound film immediately ascended Boris Babochkin to the Olympus of Soviet art. Once and for all, he remained in the memory of the audience as a hero of war and anecdotes - Vasily Ivanovich Chapaev. This role brought him mega-popularity and all possible state awards.
After Chapaev, Babochkin also played in more than twenty films, he also starred during the war. Films with the participation of Boris Babochkin, such as Defense of Tsaritsyn, Actress, The Story of a Real Man, were remembered by the viewer for many years. It is curious that there was another film where our hero was embodied in the image of the legendary divisional commander, albeit very short. It was called Chapaev with us and was filmed immediately after the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. In it, Vasily Ivanovich swims out of the Ural River, mounts a horse, and ... ends up in the summer of 1941.
In addition to acting, Babochkin was also a stage director, both on stage and on the set. The film The Tale of the Furious is his directorial work. And, of course, he was an excellent teacher, for a long period teaching at VGIK and having released more than one good actor.
This is how he was - a knight of his craft. Working sixteen hours a day, he thought he had done very little and had not given others all that he could. On a hot summer day on July 17, 1975, the great actor's heart could not stand it.
