In the late 1970s, Sperber began acting in films. She became best known for her roles in films such as I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978), The Bachelor Party (1984), Back to the Future (1985) and Back to the Future 3 (1990). In 1983-1994, Wendy was married to producer Richard Velasquez, from whom she gave birth to two children - son Preston Velasquez (born 1986) and daughter Pearl Velasquez (born 1990) .
Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997. Soon, the disease turned into remission, and in April 2002, it again made itself felt and began to spread throughout the body.
In the last years of her life, she also, as before, worked a lot, despite a severe deterioration in health and died at the age of 47 on November 29, 2005 in Sherman Oaks (California, USA).
