Born on November 30, 1935 in the village of Yuryevka, Krasnoyarsk Territory.
In 1963 he graduated from the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. Studied at the studio of the outstanding film director and teacher Mikhail Romm.
Director of fifteen films: comedies, melodramas, historical and contemporary, epic and military, journalistic and acute social.
In 1965, his first full-length film "Sultry July", staged at "Lenfilm", was released.
In 1984 he became the artistic director of the Second Creative Association of the Lenfilm film studio and, since 1990, of the Ladoga film studio.
